  2. 2. Katy Perry Perfume - Purr Text is curved which could represent a smiling cat. The long line at the end of the ‘P’ is like the tail of a cat. The text is black which stands out against the colourful background Background is pink and purple, these colours represent the genre pop and reflect the artist Katy Perry is in a cat suit which again is pink and purple. This synergy of colours represents her music even though this is an ad for her perfume . The photo is provocative which is similar to most of her other pictures in albums, adverts etc. The bottle of perfume is purple. The use of the colours pink and purple throughout this ad for her perfume link with her music as these bright ‘pop’ colours are also used in her music. She is using her musical influence to sell products.
  3. 3. <ul><li>Perfume was released on November 3 rd 2010, with pre-orders being made available a month before </li></ul><ul><li>Bottle is cat shaped which reflects the name of the perfume </li></ul><ul><li>Was available exclusively in Nordstrom stores. By making the perfume exclusive she is generating a buzz about the product </li></ul><ul><li>Product described as an aroma of peach nectar and forbidden apple, with distinct floral bouquet of jasmine blossom, Bulgarian rose and vanilla orchid. These ingredients are fun and light just like the genre pop therefore could again reflect her music </li></ul><ul><li>Product description - ‘Like the singer herself, Purr is playful yet sophisticated. Katy Perry transcends barriers with her music, so does her new fragrance’ . The product description links the perfume to her music. </li></ul>
  4. 4. DIGIPAK - CD Katy Perry’s CD’s are bright and colourful which reflect the genre pop. They are different from other CD’s as they don’t usually just have the title of the song, they have a large eye-catching picture, e.g. a strawberry, a doughnut etc Katy Perry is known for her unconventional style in clothes which are usually bright and attractive. This is reflected in her CD’s and music which is what attracts people to her <ul><li>Katy has released three albums all of which reflect her music and style: </li></ul><ul><li>Katy Hudson (2001) </li></ul><ul><li>One of the Boys (2008) </li></ul><ul><li>Teenage Dream (2010) </li></ul>The background to most of her CD’s is a plain silver colour with the image and text overlapping it. This makes the images stand out and we could use this fact when making the cover to our CD
  5. 5. Teenage Dream Actual Cover and CD Katy is not wearing any clothes which makes the picture provocative. This is linked to her other pictures and album covers and also her perfume The clouds are pink which again is a bright colour reflecting the genre pop. There is a lot of use of the colour pink throughout her album/ cover work. The use of pink makes the clouds look like candyfloss. The text is in a red/pink colour and looks like a sweet. This synergy goes with the ‘candyfloss clouds’ and suggests that her music is fun and playful, again reflecting the genre The CD is again in a red/pink colour and looks like a sweet which is linked with the text and theme of the cover. It also is linked to her other CD covers as the title is not on the CD, but the CD itself is bright and eye-catching, like the genre pop
