  • Engineering Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Loughborough University, UK 30 June 2009 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Pedagogy Research Methods Symposium It is with great pleasure that we invite students, graduates, educators, and industry practitioners to participate in this symposium at engCETL. We will discuss new and unique research findings within STEM based learning and teaching in higher education. Proposals submission is open for: Oral Presentation, Interactive Workshop and Poster Presentation.   • Submissions
    • Oral Presentation: Presenters will have the chance to show their findings in a 15-minute oral presentation to be followed by 5 minutes for questions and feedback from the audience.
    • Interactive Workshop: Workshops can provide participants with an opportunity to extend their knowledge and strengthen their skills in the area addressed by the workshop. Each workshop will be 90 minutes long. Proposals of novel learning technologies workshops are particularly encouraged.
    • Poster Presentation: Presenters will show and explain their findings in poster sessions which enable a higher degree of interaction and informal chats with delegates.
  • Preparing Your Proposal
    • Each proposal should explicitly contain the following two sections:
      • Contribution: 2-3 paragraphs on what is novel and how does it relate to the previous literature.
      • Description: Contextualized in STEM education, methodology, results, etc.
    • Proposals should clearly present how the work is innovative.
    • Proposals should be 2-4 pages long, double columns.
  • Preparing Your Proposal
    • The proposals should follow the Author's Guidelines .
    • Please use the template, CUT and PASTE where appropriate and use the relevant included styles.
    • If the short paper is accepted, full paper submission is encouraged (not compulsory) for posting on the symposium website.
    • Proposals must be submitted electronically no later than 15th of May 2009 through the symposium online submission system.
