  • 1. 1150 Owens Store RoadCanton, GA 30115April 19, 2012Judges, Senior ProjectCreekview High School1150 Owens Store RoadCanton, GA 30115Dear Judges:My name is Steffenie Burns. I am a dedicated student interested in photography. I plan to furthermy interest in photography at Kennesaw State University starting in the Fall Semester of 2012,where I plan to major in Photojournalism. I chose to create a photography business for my SeniorProject because I have been interested in photography since I was eleven, and just recentlydiscovered that I could make an everyday hobby into a job that I love. From doing the SeniorProject, I realized that I became more motivated to create a business and get my name out there. My overall product was not only a business, but also a portfolio of some of the best pictures Ihave taken throughout the course of the year. I decided to do my research paper about the historyand importance of photography. I actually learned a lot from this research paper. In order to belooked upon as a professional, you have to be knowledgeable about what you are talking about. Inow know who invented the camera, why people used it, and how the camera has evolved overthe past two- hundred years. Throughout the process of this project I encountered a fewobstacles. By creating a business, I learned that in order for the business to be successful, youhave to bring in revenue to make a profit. Also, in mid-October a critical piece on my camerabroke, and I have to close business until it was fixed. I knew that these were problems that manyphotographers encounter on a daily basis. Even though there were a few problems along the way, those did not alter my opinion about my future career in photography.By choosing to create a photography business for my Senior Project, I finally realized that I wantto turn taking pictures into a career. I now have a small amount of experience about creating abusiness and how difficult it really is. This project helped me better my skills of taking pictures, and made me realize how much I want to pursue my hobby as a career.Though at times the Senior Project was a bit of a hassle along with other school work, it helpedme realize what career I wanted to pursue later on in life. I believe that this project not onlyhelped me grow as a student, but as a future photographer as well. I sincerely thank each one ofyou judges for the time you have reserved to judge my Senior Project that I have been dedicatedto for the past nine months.Sincerely,Steffenie Burns
