    Web 2.0 - Twitter - Presentation Transcript

    1.
    2. What is Twitter?
      • Twitter is part of the increasing trend of social networking sites that stem from the introduction of the Web 2.0 concept.
      • The idea behind it is to simply answer the question, “What are you doing?”
    3. What does it do?
      • Users can send and receive messages known as tweets – and that’s pretty much it.
    4. Is it simple?
      • YES.
      • User interfaces are confusing and difficult to get familiar with. However, once that is figured out, Twitter is pretty basic.
      • It is essentially a place where you can tell the rest of the world (or whoever is following you) what you are doing. That simple.
    5. Issues?
      • Like any social networking site, Twitter collects personally identifiable information about users and shares it with third parties.
      • Privacy and security should be taken into consideration
    6. Good for anything?
      • Campaigning – used by Barack Obama
      • Survey opinions – CBC News
      • Emergencies – American Red Cross
      • Criminal proceedings – FBI arrest
      • Space exploration – Astronaut Mike Massimino
    7. Thank-you.
