  • 1. STEELWAYCASE STUDY - HERITAGE PROJECTS - BIRMINGHAM RailBirmingham - Moor Street StationSteelway’s involvement in the 2002 restoration of the Grade II listed Moor StreetStation in Birmingham was to be the beginning of the creating of new opportunitiesfor both Steelway and for clients alike. With increasing demand for refurbishmentand in particular replica and restoration work across the network we have theability to replicate design concepts from drawings that often date back to the earlyVictorian age.Clearly a proven track record in engineering was part of the clients belief inSteelway and backed up with Link-Up approval with proof were all important partsof the equation. The client had great ambitions and wanted his derelict site to winnational accolades for the transformation that was to come. There would be noinstances where inappropriate off the shelf items would be acceptable and withthe Steelway approach client’s satisfaction is paramount. Added to all of this wewere aware of the real world where the need to work within budgets and also to aprogramme is essential. The result was a national award winning restored and enhanced station fit for the21st century but with all the qualities of a bygone age. Our work commenced onsite almost a decade ago and our involvement in the ongoing development therecontinues to this day. In the intervening years our reputation has grown and thescope of our own activities on other historic sites have continued to trail blaze, resulting in many more award winning projects throughout the country.
