  2. 2. AIM OF BASKETBALL <ul><li>The aim of basketball is to shoot the ball in the opponent’s basket . </li></ul><ul><li>The players are able to pass, dribble and roll the ball down the court. </li></ul><ul><li>The team who scores the most points win. </li></ul>

RULES OF BASKETBALL <ul><li>You are not able to run with the ball. </li></ul><ul><li>You are not able to bounce the ball and pick it up and bounce it again. </li></ul><ul><li>You can not stay in the key for three seconds. </li></ul><ul><li>You can shoot out of the three point line which is three points. </li></ul>
  4. 4. EQUIPMENT USED IN BASKETBALL <ul><li>You need a basketball </li></ul><ul><li>Ring , backboard and a </li></ul><ul><li>leather basketball. </li></ul>

ORIGINS <ul><li>Basketball originated in America in 1891. </li></ul><ul><li>James Naismith invented the game. </li></ul><ul><li>He was a teacher and he had to think of a game which was able to be played inside. </li></ul><ul><li>At first there was thirteen rules to go with the game. </li></ul><ul><li>At first they played with a soccer ball. </li></ul>
  6. 6. PLAYING SURFACE <ul><li>Usually they play on wooden floors. </li></ul><ul><li>The floor are highly glossed. </li></ul><ul><li>The floors have lines printed on the wood. </li></ul><ul><li>One ring at each end </li></ul><ul><li>The court is 25 metres long and 15 metres wide. </li></ul>
  7. 7. LEADING OLYMPIC COUNTRYS <ul><li>The last ten years America have won the Olympics. </li></ul><ul><li>Except in 2004 Argentina won gold. </li></ul><ul><li>In 2004 Australia in woman's basketball came 2nd. </li></ul>
  8. 8. AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATIVES <ul><li>Andrew Gaze represented Australia in Men's basketball. </li></ul><ul><li>Glen Savell has also represented Australia in basketball. </li></ul><ul><li>Andrew Bogut was also chosen to represent Australia </li></ul>
