St Barnabas on the Danforth - The Study

  1. 1. THE STUDY AT ST. BARNABAS ON THE DANFORTH Welcome to The Study What was the “Rector’s Study” is now “The Study” - a place for all to learn, explore and enjoy. The Study is a vestibule, a threshold space between the marketplace that is the Danforth, and the sacred space of the Sanctuary.
  2. 2. The Study is ...a place to come and browse an eclectic collection of books - literature, art, philosophy and theology A “teach-in” at The Study: some members of Musica Reflecta share their stories of life as professional musicians with members of the Mississauga Youth Choir.
  3. 3. ...a place for refreshment and recreation ...from time to time a Gallery featuring the work of creative spirits ...a venue for performance, music and the spoken word
  4. 4. Be part of a happening at The Study. Starting this Fall, The Study will be the venue for happenings of all kinds. Possibilities to be explored include: Live readings, lively discussion. No, this is NOT a Book Club. No need to rush through a book before arriving or to bluff your way through a session because you didn’t find the time even to cram. Members gather and read texts together, in real time, out loud. Discussion flows from what is heard and shared in the moment. Instead of guilt and cramming, there is the experience of genuine leisure and spontaneous conversation. Lunch and Learn This is a mid-day chance to escape from the routine of work whether it is at home or at the office, in short courses with an audio-visual dimension. Lectures Panel discussions on contemporary issues Keep an eye on our new sign board at the corner of Hampton and Danforth for events, dates and times upcoming. You are invited to return.
