Now, it has officially overtaken the UK to become the 2nd biggest apps market in terms of sessions behind the USA. The Middle Kingdom also tops the list of app session growth markets with an impressive 870% increase in sessions between January and October 2011. Source: http://blog.flurry.com Google rolls out latest version of street view in Japan Google has rolled out a number of improvements to its Street View service, adding its largest number of „partner program collections‟ ever. Essentially that means sites on private property, not just on public streets. The additions extend across 22 countries. In Japan specifically, 98 locations have been added, including a number of World Heritage sties. There are also many 360-degree panoramas included in the new version. Source: http://www.penn-olson.com/ Google India trying to bring SMEs online With its new “India Get Your Business Online” initiative, Google attempts to help approx. 500,000 Indian SMEs gain a digital presence over the next three years. Google has partnered with several companies including HostGator, which will provide free storage and technical support, ICICI Bank and the Federations of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. India is currently home to 8 million businesses with five employees or less. However, only 400000 businesses have a website and just 100000 businesses have a high quality website.
