  • 3. DCSC – NACE Rev.2 Economic activities of the services : required fields, and detected European Regulation on short-term statistics Sources: Nace (Rev.2), STS
  • 4. European Regulation on short-term statistics Economic activities of the services : required fields, and detected Istat produces only a part of these indicators, representing a share of common turnover of 60.1% of the total required. New surveys were undertaken in order to complete wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (Nace 45), land transport (Nace 49), supporting and auxiliary transport activities (Nace 52), accomodation and food & beverage service activities (Nace 55-56) . The coverage will reach 86 , 2% of the total.
  • 5. PSN 2011-2013 PSN 2011-2013
    • The recent introduction of a new classification of economic activities (Nace Rev. 2) and the need to identify a precise criterion for distinguishing between the different surveys has led to a reworking of the documentation when filling out the 2011-13 PSN update 2012.
    • The surveys were grouped according to the degree of realization (in the process, from start in 2011, to be launched in 2012) and economic activities .
    • The new structure provides only 3 readings:
      • sectors 452, 46, 50, 51, 53 and section J;
      • sectors 45 (completion), 49, 52 and section I;
      • business services and activities to professional
  • 6. GSBPM The statistical business process
    • According Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM), the discussion focused on:
      • definition of turnover used in the survey
      • definition of variables
      • process of data acquisition
      • regeneration of the system
      • decrease in the costs of the investigation
      • collaboration with istitutional stakeholders
      • determination of the sample size
      • determination of informations and instructions of the questionnaires
      • determination of the sample size
      • how to return data
  • 7. Collaboration Istat - stakeholders Collaboration Istat – Confindustria Alberghi, Confindustria Aica, Federalberghi, Fipe
      • From the end of 2010, Istat has teamed up with representatives of istitutional stakeholders hotels (Federalberghi, Confindustria Alberghi and Confindustria Aica) and food & beverages (Fipe).
      • Main objectives :
        • study of the dynamics of the sector
        • integration of available information on enterprises (source: Asia 2008-09)
        • sharing of information objectives laid down in European Regulation
        • raises awareness of associated enterprises
      • More general objective :
        • improve the information available on the sectors

  • 9. Asia 2008 Accomodation service activities: enterprises and employees Division 55 is typified by the group 55.10, which expresses 81% of total sales reported at about 26.000 enterprises with a total of 235.000 employees. Source: Asia 2008
  • 10. Asia 2008 Accomodation service activities: the turnover Within the group 5510, the turnover is concentrated in the 5-20 size class (38.6%) corresponding to 42.5% of the hotels and 43.7% of the workforce. Source: Asia 2008
  • 11. Asia 2008 Food and beverages service activities : enterprises and employees Division 56 is typified by the group 56.10 and 56.30, which expresses 85,0% of total sales reported at about 244.000 enterprises with a total of 846.000 employees . Source: Asia 2008
  • 12. Asia 2008 Food and beverages service activities : the turnover Within the section 56, the turnover is concentrated in the 2-5 size class (29,1%) and in the 5-20 size class (35.9%) corresponding to 65.7% of the enterprises and to 71.0% of the workforce. Source: Asia 2008

      • The study to determine the sample size has the basic scenary that consists of a 3-digit Nace Rev.2 stratification associated with the 4 classes of employees (1-5, 5-20, 20-100, >100) the 4 geografic areas (Nord-West, Nord-East, Center, South) and the 15 metropolitan cities
      • Domain estimation (551 of Nace Rev.2) at the group level of economic activity
      • Threshold employees: less than 2 units
    • The sample is composed of 1.092 enterprises in 561 hotels.
  • 15. Food & beverages service activities: the sample Food & beverages service activities: sample hypothesis
      • The study to determine the sample size has the basic scenary that consists of a 3-digit Ateco stratification associated with the 4 classes of employees (1-5, 5-20, 20-100, >100) the 4 geografic areas (Nord-West, Nord-East, Center, South) and the 15 metropolitan cities (only 4 classes of employees for the group 56.2)
      • Domain estimation (561 of Ateco 2007) at the group level of economic activity
      • Threshold employees: less than 2 units
    • The sample is composed of 1.300 enterprises, only 259 event catering and other food service activities .

Agenda Our deadline 1 ) Approval and signature of the information to enterprises by the President Enrico Giovannini (by the end of February) 2) Send the information and instructions of the questionnaires to the sample (by April) 3) Return data from enterprises in the first quarter 2011 and fourth quarters of 2010 (before April 30, 2011) 4) June 2011: first assessment of Turnover index of accomodation and food & beverages services activities

    • The 16.082 units listed in the input of Federalberghi were available to link with the store Asia 2008
    • Individual hotels were grouped by company
    • Overall, 14.670 codes were used
