Connecting With Vocabulary Jessica Sarver - Presentation Transcript

I’m afraid I share too much. It’s just that I LOVE writing; I love this class; I love my fellow teachers. I’m worried that everyone takes me the wrong way. I’m worried that people know I’m worried! Ugh!
There is no “recipe” for teaching writing in one specific way.
I feel that a teacher has to closely observe his/her students and meet their needs.
There is no prescribed method for presenting a series of mini-lessons that will produce good writing. Each student will have a unique need.
Thank God my demo is over!
I like the idea of tying the mini-lessons to what the student writing showed they needed! This makes more sense than presenting the same canned lessons year after year.
Thank goodness my DEMO is over!
Today the lesson gave me the opportunity to write about my grandma which otherwise I might not have done.
I got “tons” of ideas from Barry Lane last Wednesday.
Barry Lane is overrated! What am I going to do with all that singing and dancing?
I think I’m in a rut. No ideas are coming to me today.
Well, I did it! I did my demo today! And, it was okay!
I need to find a writing group!
I felt out of my element a bit today as the high school teachers presented. However, I had fun participating in the lesson.
Today was exhausting…
I am so worn out but yet I do not want this class to end!
Atwell states that writing can be taught and learned by all students.
I’m worried that my demo is not flashy enough!
I can’t believe this is all almost over!
I love how everyone uses the same vocabulary and terms when talking about writing and writing workshop.
What’s up with the hot computer lab?
I don’t like to say goodbye!
… an enjoyable day full of useful ideas!
Great demos today! More time to write and of all things, my brain was blank.
I started a piece at lunch that I was really into…
I will really miss the sharing and writing!
I’m already interested in AI for next summer!
I feel inept as a writer compared to some of the other fellows – such creative and humorous pieces have been shared!
Today went by fast! Where did the day go?
I’m glad to check a few things off my list!
… write every day
I had a good group to peer conference with…
I am looking forward to the continued professional contacts that we are creating!
When I did my demo several people were talking and typing. That made me feel distracted and I thought that perhaps they were not listening to me.
I was incredibly nervous. It surprised me!
The fellows in this room are so supportive and caring. Thank you.
Model, model, model…
It seemed I saw writing topics everywhere I turned. I went to bed and had to get up to write something down so I wouldn’t forget it!
My family will be glad to have me back!
Goodbye. I wish the fellows knew how much I will miss them!
