DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY What’s Going On in the World
The Activity
Your activity needs to consist of 3 different parts: The Event - in 6-10 lines, you must describe your event in detail, in your own words. Make sure you remember to include: who, what, where, why, when and how. Opinion - In 3-5 lines, you have to give your opinion on the event. Please make sure that when you state your opinion, that you also give your reasons and a thorough explanation. Sources - Include web addresses for the different articles that you read. Also include the author's name, if possible.
How You Do It
1. Scan the news sites to find a piece of news that interests you. Or, you may already know of something that you've seen on TV or talked with your parents about. 2. Read a news article about the event you're interested in. While you are reading, take notes in your book. You don't need full sentences. In fact, I want you to use your own words. 3. Now you need to read another article about your event. The easiest way to do this is to go to Google News . Then search on the event your interested in. After that, choose the article you'd l (only for certain groups) ike to read. Remember to include it in your sources. 4. After you've collected all the information for the first part of your activity, you should write all about your event, and your opinion of the event.
