  2. 2. ABOUT HOMETOWN HEROES . . . WHY? Hometown Heroes is dedicated to those kids that need some big friends. Our focus is to make these children and their families, OUR family. "Big Kids Helping Little Kids" isn't just a's a promise to make a difference in the lives of kids that can use our help. HISTORY and GROWTH Since 1998 <ul><li>Statistics: </li></ul><ul><li>In 2004 incorporated into a 501(C)3 Charitable Organization. </li></ul><ul><li>Over $600K has been directed to assist families in need since 2004. </li></ul><ul><li>Our organization is run on 100% volunteer participation that now exceeds over 500+ individuals. </li></ul><ul><li>Over 52 children and their families have received support services since 1998. </li></ul><ul><li>Hometown Heroes has expanded from Union County to include Mecklenburg, Gaston and Cabarrus County Kids. </li></ul><ul><li>New: Facebook Cause established in 2009 with 950+ members where contributions can be made. </li></ul><ul><li>Online referrals and contributions can be made via the our website: . </li></ul>If asked, all involved with our mission will tell you... “ It’s all about the kids and Hometown Heroes would not be what it is today without every individual or business that volunteers, contributes and supports our mission.” In 1998, police sergeant (now retired) Donnie Dixon recognized a need and was compelled to help several children who suffered from terminal illnesses or debilitating injuries as a result of tragic accidents. Not realizing the magnitude of the journey he was about to embark upon, he organized a golf tournament raising money to assist these families. Community and business support was solicited along with coordination of other events that helped provide support to these families to cope with the financial burden and horrifying news of their children’s fate.   “ BIG KIDS HELPING LITTLE KIDS”
  4. 4. EVENTS FOR THE KIDS Various events are held throughout the year to raise the spirits of the children. Events and field trips include Kidzfest, Columbia Zoo, Checker’s Games, Parades and more. “ BIG KIDS HELPING LITTLE KIDS” Salute to Heroes Checker’s Game

  6. 6. <ul><li>SERVICES </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>Services vary contingent upon need; however, every child hero has a dedicated sponsor to ensure their needs are met. Ours is not an organization that writes a check and knows little about the child. Ours is a hands-on, one-on-one approach. </li></ul><ul><li>Other services include: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Medical and household financial assistance, where needed. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Hospital and home visits to offer moral support. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Medical equipment such as wheel chairs, as prescribed. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Whatever it takes to make life a little easier during difficult times. </li></ul></ul>“ BIG KIDS HELPING LITTLE KIDS”
