Of all Samsung MP3P lineup, U series which is started with 'YP-U' is a type which is USB
connector included. The feature of this type is that it doesn't need any cable to connect to a PC
to transfer files. This combination of MP3P and porta ble memory is being released every year

points does the beautiful U4 have?

USB Memory
The big feature of the 2GB/4GB YP-U4 is that it can be used as a moveable disk not only as an
MP3 player. This is useful for students and office workers who use to bring data home. It is
easily possible by storing data to moveable disk. It can be considered that there's no space if it
is filled with a lot of files. However, since the YP-U4 has 2/4GB, you don’t have to worry
about it.

Litmus Light spreading design
MP3 players have their own concept. When it comes to the YP-U4, with a gradation effect, the
phrase ‘Litmus: Light spreading’ expresses the concept well.

Following the two former products YP-S2 ‘Sound spreading’, YP-S3 ‘Color spreading’, the YP-
U4 is a third spreading series, and suitable concept design is impressive.
COLOR
That color is getting lighter is expressed as ‘light’, and there are 3 colors such as Crystal rose,
Navy purple, and Ocean blue, and like the color name, it feels like two colors in one product.

User convenient YP-U4
Before it was released, I thought ‘it’s a little big’ only with images, and it’s because of the
vertically long design. But when I actually saw it, many people said ‘Oh, it’s more cute and
pretty than I expected’.

The YP-U4 is 27x83mm size, and 13mm thickness. The size is enough to be 3 in a hand, and
with this small and slim size, it’s only 27g weight, so it’s not a burden at all when hanging on a
neck.

Gray OLED
With the 1inch Gray OLED, users can confirm various settings and functions in the YP-U4, and
this can be controlled with touch pad under the OLED. The touch pad consists of 4-way mark
and a circular button. Sometimes, people confuse the mark as a touch pad, but the circular
button has to be touched to execute a function.

USB terminal
The most remarkable thing of the product is the USB switch which controls the USB terminal to
move in and out. Pushing the switch up, the USB comes out, and after using it, with pushing up
the switch, and then put in the USB terminal.

User Buttons
Once seeing the right side of the YP-U4, you can see the USER button. If pushing it long,
recording starts, but when listening to music, pushing it shortly, setting started. Users can
register functions such as Repeat A-B, DNSe, play speed, and play mode as a user button. The
user buttons are changeable, and with one button, various environment setting can be
controlled.

Music
Music the representative function of the YP-U4 can play MP3, WMA, and OGG files. It supports
‘Now playing’ which is back to a song, and files are sorted as artist, albums, songs, genres,
and recently added automatically, so users can enjoy music with their taste. Also, it supports
playlists which collect favorites songs, and using ‘recorded files’ and ‘music browser, users
can explorer all music files in the YP-U4.
When listening to music, users can see the effect which the gradation part and OLED are lit in
turns.

FM Radio
The function which is included in all MP3 players is a FM radio function. When missing a human
voice, the ‘FM radio’ delivers news and stories all over the world. By the 4 way touch buttons,
the volume and frequency can be controlled.
Voice REC
‘FM radio broadcasting recording’ and ‘voice recording’ are possible, and recorded files are
checked in the ‘Recorded files’. In case of the broadcasting recording, when listening to the
FM radio, just push the button, and the voice recording is possible by talking to the microphone
at the top. Recorded files cannot be deleted, so you have to connect to a PC to delete them.

File Browser
‘File browser’ is a convenient function to manage music, playlists, datacast, and recorded files
at one place. Compared to selecting each menu, by using ‘File Browser’, users can save more
time, and searching files is easier.
The combination of sensitive design and functions, YP-U4
The YP-U4 is an MP3 player which is harmonious with the concept ‘light spreads’ and
convenient functions. There are thing I wasn’t satisfied with due to lack of some multimedia
functions such as File viewer and Bluetooth. But, it’s doing its work as a moveable disk, and
portable player, so I’m expecting the future of the YP-U4.
