  2. 2. FAMILY <ul><li>Saint Rose of Lima was born in Lima, Peru on April 20 th , 1586. She also died in Lima, Peru on August 30 th 1617. She had a brother, a mother, and a father. Her father was a Spanish business man named Gasper Flores. Her mother was Maria de Olivia. </li></ul>
  3. 3. LIFE <ul><li>Saint Rose of Lima was born in Lima Peru on April 20 th , 1586. She was born a very sick baby but soon grew to be healthy and beautiful. Her family was very poor and hoped that she would marry well to assist them. She spent many hours at the church receiving the blessed sacrament . </li></ul>

  5. 5. MODELING SAINT CATHERINE OF SIENNA <ul><li>Because of Saint Catherine of Sienna Saint Rose fasted three times a week with secret severe penances. She also cut off her hair against the objections of her friends and family. She disfigured her face with pepper and lye. She was very upset that she was so beautiful, and hurt herself to help others. </li></ul>
  6. 6. HOW SHE SPENT HER DAYS <ul><li>Her days were filled with acts of charity and industry. She helped the sick and hungry around her community. She would bring the sick to her home and take care of them. She sold her fine needlework, grew beautiful flowers, and would take them to the market to help her family . </li></ul>
  7. 7. Saint Rose Park and Church <ul><li>There is a park named for her in downtown Sacramento, California. There is also a church named after her in Wilmington, Will County, Illinois, which is dedicated to her in her memory. There are two more in Denison, Iowa and in Haddon Heights, New Jersey . </li></ul>
  8. 8. Veneration <ul><li>She was beatified by Pope Clement lX on April 16 th 1667 and canonized on April 12 th , 1671 by Pope Clement X . </li></ul>
