  2. 2. 2 WeDo Technologies' Worldwide User Group 2013 At the eighth edition of WeDo Technologies’ Worldwide User Group we launched RAID 7 Telecom, a proven software that allows Communication Service Providers (CSP) to monitor end-to-end business processes with minimal involvement of IT. In 2013, the WeDo Technologies’ Worldwide User Group had a dedicated microsite with the conference history, previous editions and all the important information for the upcoming event. Delegates could also register directly online and sign up to receive information on the event as they became available. Besides the usual pre-event workshop session by Praesidium, the conference also had a TM Forum program held by its Business Assurance Director, Steve Cotton. What was new in 2013? There were three more telecom operator speakers at this year’s event bringing the total to 22. This included keynote speakers and other sessions. The goal to keep the conference focused on having a community of users around the hot topics of the industry was achieved, as most of the agenda was made by our customers. In total, this eighth edition gathered 240 people, also including keynote speakers, independent experts and analysts, staff and other invitees. He has become an international authority on telecoms Business Support Systems and is the market strategist at the TM Forum. In addition to being a regular speaker and chairman at telco and finance conferences worldwide, he is a contributing analyst for IDC, writes a number of industry publications worldwide and is anchor for the Telecom Channel. In 2011, Tony was recognized as one of the 25 most influential people in the telecom software industry. The rankings, determined by an independent panel of editors at the publication Billing and OSS World, highlight the industry leaders and visionaries that have had a significant effect on the direction and development of business and operations support systems (BSS/OSS). Cláudia Azevedo Executive Director Sonaecom – Media & SSI SONAECOM | Cláudia Azevedo is CEO of Sonaecom Software and Systems Integration Business Unit. João Resende Vice-President Product Development | WeDo Technologies | João Albergaria Resende is WeDo Technologies’ Vice President for Product Development. João manages a team of more than 120 people covering all the key aspects of product development including architecture, product management, professional services, support, quality and testing. João joined WeDo Technologies in 2001, as Senior Manager, to head up one of its local offices in Braga, Portugal. João previously held project management roles in AMS - American Management Systems. He has a degree in Engineering and a masters in Industrial Information Technology from Porto University. He also has an MBA from INSEAD. Rui Paiva CEO | WeDo Technologies | Rui Paiva is WeDo Technologies’ CEO. Rui founded WeDo Technologies in 2001 and has led the company as CEO since its inception, successfully driving expansion over the years. Rui served as Professional Services Director at HP and held senior IT management roles at Optimus and Vodafone Portugal. He holds a degree in Applied Mathematics and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration and Computer Management, both from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.   5. 5. 5WeDo Technologies' Worldwide User Group 2013 WeDo Technologies’ Worldwide User Group Conference Sérgio Silvestre Vice-President New Markets, Marketing & Alliances | WeDo Technologies | Sergio Silvestre is an active “evangelist” of the Business Assurance concept in telecoms, large retailers, energy retailers and banking/insurance companies, and also has very active roles in WeDo Technologies’ strategy and innovation management processes. Sergio re-joined WeDo Technologies in 2009 after being part of the founding team in 2001 and 2002. He was previously the Marketing Deputy Director for Corporate Banking at Banco BPI, a leading Portuguese Bank, for four and half years. Sérgio Silvestre has a degree in Management from Catholic University of Portugal. “WWUG is an event which is not only well organised but is an excellent opportunity to talk to professionals from all around the world.   6. 6. 6 WeDo Technologies' Worldwide User Group 2013 Zeinal Bava Former Portugal Telecom Comunicações CEO, now the CEO of Oi Brazil | Zeinal Bava was, at the time the WeDo Technologies’ Worldwide User Group took place, the Chief Executive Officer of Portugal Telecom, the largest Portuguese telecommunications company, with more than 100 million customers in Portugal, Brazil, Africa and Asia, as at the end of year 2012. Keynote Speakers James Zerbe Vice President of Product Development and Realization at Cricket Communications | James Zerbe recently joined Cricket Communications, Inc. as Vice President of Product Development and Realization. In this role Mr. Zerbe leads all of the company’s consumer-focused product development activities and plays an integral role in the company’s strategic direction, development, and future growth. Mr. Zerbe brings over twenty years of wireless management experience ranging from engineering, product development and product management roles. He has worked for T-Mobile US, Cingular Wireless and Nextel. His last role prior to joining Cricket Communications, Inc. was Senior Director of Product Management for Samsung Telecommunications of America where he was the head of product for the T-Mobile account and managed the Product Realization team for the AT&T account with a combined annual revenue in excess of $6 billion. While at Samsung Telecommunications of America his teams launched the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 on both the AT&T and T-Mobile accounts in addition to their entire product portfolio over the last two plus years.Prior to that he led the Product Realization efforts for T-Mobile focusing on mobile Internet and content/services platforms.

Prior to joining EY, Mike worked in the Telecom sector for 12 years, his most recent role being at Telstra where he was Director of Fraud and Revenue Assurance. Mike used to work for Praesidium (before the WeDo acquisition) and consulted to more than 40 operators on Fraud, Revenue Assurance and Security. Mike has made contributions to the TMF and GSMA, and is a co-author with Eric on the Revenue Assurance book. Eric Priezkalns Blogger | Eric Priezkalns is one of the editors and founders of He is Director of Enterprise Risk Management at Qatar Telecom, and has over ten years of telecommunications industry experience in risk management and revenue assurance. Eric has previously worked as Head of Controls for Cable & Wireless Group, Best Practice Manager for Revenue Assurance, Billing and Carrier Services for T‑Mobile UK and Billing Integrity Manager for Worldcom UK. He held multiple senior management positions at Optimus and, from 2005 to 2012, he was director of Fraud and Revenue Assurance. Before joining Optimus he worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co. He originally graduated as an electrical engineer and he also holds Masters degrees in both Management (MBA) and Finance. Steve joined the TM Forum in 2010 as Head of Revenue Management and has since taken on the expanded role of Director, Business Assurance Programs, responsible for the oversight and direction of strategic plan implementation in the areas of Big Data Analytics, Customer Experience Management, and Revenue Management. Raul Azevedo Director of Product Development | WeDo Technologies | With professional experience in Telecommunications, Banking and Retail, Raul Azevedo re-joined Wedo Technologies in 2010 as Director of Product Development, being responsible for WeDo’s product development, product management and research areas. José Sobreira has a great deal of experience as an invited speaker at several telecom conferences. Luís Rebelo Director of Product and Customer Services | WeDo Technologies | Luís Rebelo has been with WeDo Technologies since it began working in professional services and has extensive experience in Revenue Assurance projects worldwide. As a Professional Services Manager, Pedro is IPMA Level C certified and is also responsible for project management, pre-sales and commercial support activities, software demonstrations and Proof of Concept project implementations, as well as providing technical supporting services for the company’s vertical units. Conclusion: The industries CSPs felt would most likely deliver stronger win-win co-operation/partnerships with the telecoms industry have changed over the last 12 months and rather than large retailers would now be banks and insurance companies (33%), followed by energy distributors/retailers (26%).
