Neurons

  1. 1. Neurons Ankush Srivastava MCA V semester Dept. of Computer Science University of Lucknow Lucknow
  2. 2. Neuron Core element of the nervous system Receive, integrate, and transmitinformation Operate through electrical impulses Communicate with other neuronsthrough chemical signals
  3. 3. Components of Neuronthere are basically three corecomponent of neuronCell BodyDendritesAxon
  4. 4. Cell BodyThecell body contains anucleus or control centre.
  5. 5. Dendritebranching extensions of a neuron that receive messages and conduct impulses toward the cell body
  6. 6. Axonthe extension of a neuron, ending in branching terminal fibers, through which messages are sent to other neurons
  7. 7. Beside these,there are two more parts inneuronMyelin Sheath (Schwann Cells)Neurilemma
  8. 8. Myelin Sheath (SchwannCells). Myelin sheath is a white segmented covering made up of Schwann cells. The covering is around axons and dendrites of many peripheral neurons.
  9. 9. Neurilemma Neurilemma is the nucleated cytoplasmic layer of the Schwann cell. Neurilemma allows damaged nerves to regenerate.
  10. 10. Thank you..
