  4. 4. Identity CloningIdentity cloning can occur when someone wants toconceal their own identity by using someone else’sinformation. A typical example is someone who uses afalse Social Security number to apply for or begin a newjob.
  5. 5. Medical Identity TheftMedical identity theft happens when someone usesanother person’s ID or information to make or obtainmedical insurance claims.

Financial Identity TheftFinancial identity theft occurs when someone usesanother person’s ID or information to access thatperson’s financial information, such as a bank account,credit card info, etc. Obtaining credit by the use ofsomeone else’s ID or information is also consideredfinancial identity theft.
  7. 7. Synthetic Identity TheftSynthetic identity theft is probably the most recentforms of identity theft. Synthetic identity theft occurswhen someone uses multiple peoples’ ID or informationto create a new identity altogether.
