Modify Ferrari OBD2 port to work with cheap $9 ELM327 scanner
Most of US vehicle is designed with 16-pin diagnostic connector under the hood, while most of
European vehicles are not compatible with OBD2 standard OBDⅡcomplaint. That’s properly the
reason why the cheap Bluetooth or WIFI ELM327 OBD2 scan tool cannot access to Ferrari
models. In order to comply with OBD standard SAE J1972 an extra round pin must be added to
the existing OBD connector located under the dashboard on the below mentioned vehicles:
575 Maranello
550 Maranello
360 Modena
360 Spider
355 all models
456 all models
Enzo
Tool needed:
1) Double bladed scotchloc P/N 9112
2) Wire P/N 9113
3) Connector PIN P/N 135308

2. How to modify Ferrari OBD diagnostic socket to work with ELM327 scanners?
The picture show below is the existing OBD2 connector is the above mentioned models. Pin 5 is a
ground signal. Pin 4 slot is currently empty. This campaign consists of adding a pin to Pin 4 slot
and by means of provided Scotchloc, making a joint to Pin 5.

3. Installation:
1) Remove the 2 fastening screws securing the OBD2 connector located on the right hand side of
the steering column under the dashboard as picture shown

4. 2) Please note that for all 355 models, you must reposition the ignition key buzzer to gain access
to the securing screws as shown
3) Using a small screwdriver remove the blue retaining clip that secures Pins 1-8 as shown

5. 4) After crimping the new connector to the wire provided, insert the pin into slot 4 as shown
5) Re-install the blue retaining clip as shown

6. 6) Remove some of the black electrical tape on the OBD2 harness to expose the Pin 5 wire
7) Using the provided Scotchloc, insert the wires as shown, press firmly down on the metal blade
piercing the wires and close the retaining clip

7. 8) Remount the connector under the dashboard and ensure that the wiring harness is rounded
properly
Ferrari OBD II diagnostic socket modification is completed. Plug the ELM327 OBD2 adaptor into
the modified diagnostic port and set theAndroid or iOS app configuration.
The most mentioned Ferrari app are Torque pro for Android phones and ELM 327 Bluetooth
OBD scan tool; OBD Facile App &OBD Fusion App for iOS (iPhone, iPad etc) and WIFI
ELM327 adaptor. A free or $5 app (depending which version you choose) for your phone and
cheap $9-$15 Bluetooth or WIFI OBD interface you have yourself a pretty neat handheld ODB
scan tool.
