  • 2. Elements
    Made of 1 kind of atom only.
    Approximately 115 known elements, Found on the Periodic Table such as Hydrogen & Oxygen
    Learn more about the elements!
  • 3. Compounds
    Elements are chemically combined
    At least 2 different types of atoms bonded together.
  • 4. Mixtures
    Any number of elements and compounds combined together
    The parts of a mixture are NOT chemically combined!
    This trail-mix is a mixture, but the raisins are still raisins and the chocolate is still chocolate!
  • 5. Heterogeneous Mixtures
    This type of mixture has visible differences between parts.
    “Hetero” means “different.”
    What do you see in these pictures that are heterogeneous mixtures?
  • 6. Homogeneous Mixtures
    Homogenous mixtures are mixtures that look the same or even throughout.
    “Homo” means “same.”
    How is milk “straight from the cow” different than
    the milk you drink?
