    DISEASE : AMYLOID , THYROID
  • Disease : Basal cell CA
    Characteristic appearance : Picket fence appearance
    Cells at pointer : Palisade of Basal cells
  • Epidermis that invaded the dermis.. Squamous cells arranged into lobules
    Disease : Squamous cell CA
    Keratinization in the centers .. Known as keratin pearls
  • Landmark : normal alveoli
    Disease : tumor emboli, lungShows hematogenous spread.. The malignant cells will be found w/I the BV.
    Blood vessel
    Malignant cells occluding the BV
  • Hematogenous spread in Liver - Gross
  • Hair follicle
    Sebaceous gland
    Dermoid cyst , ovaryThere’s ectodermal differentiation due to presence of totipotential cell thus presenting with sebaceous gland, hair follicles, etc.See stuff that are not suppose to be seen in ovary!
  • Hair, teeth and sebaceous fluid seen in ovary
  • Papillary CA, thyroid Lymphoidspread
    Psammoma’s body
    Normal thyroid follicle
    The thyroid follicles are surrounded by malignant cells … they are arranged into papillary pattern.
  • Papillary CA, thyroid Lymphoidspread
    Orphan Annie nuclei appearance under HPO
  • Thyroid follicle
    Infiltration of Leukocytes
    Appears like Lymph node
    But actually , it’s a thyroid gland with autoimmune disease known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
  • Thyroid hyperplasia
    Grave’s Disease
  • Invasive Ductal carcinoma
    Ducts invading the stroma so there is reduced amount of stroma..
    This is due to abnormality of ductal lining cell..
  • Rectal Adenocarcinoma
    Pleomorphism of cell and nucleus
    Elongated duct
    Hyperchromatic nucleus
  • Hydatidiform mole (partial mole)
    Chorionic villi with hydropic degeneration
  • Hydatidiform mole – Gross…
    Appears like fish egg… WTF??? Does it???
