  • 2. Admissions Process
    • Thank you for choosing
    • St. Philip’s College. There are many opportunities available to you, ranging from Culinary Arts to Nursing, from Automotive Technology to Criminal Justice. Becoming a member of the St. Philip’s College family is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
  • 3. Step 1- Admissions
    • Apply for Admissions in two easy ways:
    • Come to the Welcome Center and apply in person, or
    • Apply online at www.alamo.edu/spc
    • The application will take up to 48 hours to be processed and you will NOT receive notification once it has been entered, however, if you have any questions you may contact the Admissions office at (210) 486-2830.
    • Next step, Advising & Assessment.
  • 4. Step 2- Advising & Assessment
    • Whether you are a first time, current, perspective, or transfer student, the Advising & Referral Center can help in a variety of ways, including:
      • Informing you about the Accuplacer, the placement test at
      • St. Philip’s College
      • Interpreting test scores
      • Evaluating high school and college transcripts for placement levels
      • Directing you to Counseling, First Year Experience or an Advisor-In-Residence for departmental advising and registration.
      • Visit Advising & Assessment in the Welcome Center, online @ http://www.alamo.edu/spc/admin/advising/default.aspx or contact that office by phone at (210) 486-2262 or 486-2263.
      • *** You must speak with the Advising & Referral Center prior to being able to register for classes.***
  • 5. Accuplacer Information
    • The Accuplacer is available on a walk-in basis Mondays through Thursdays from 9am until 7pm. There is a $15 fee for the test, you must know your ssn#, and you must be able to provide a valid picture ID at the time of testing (driver’s license is fine). During holidays and the Summer, testing schedule varies. Contact the Advising office for testing hours at (210) 486-2262.
  • 6. Step 3- Counseling Center
    • The Counseling Dept., located in the Welcome Center, is available for:
    • Undecided/ Undeclared Students - can help you decide on a major and/or direct you to the department of your chosen major
    • Liberal Arts/ General Studies Students - available to help create a degree plan, make a schedule for each semester, ensure a timely and successful graduation and make the most of your time at St. Philip’s.
    • You may reach the Counseling Dept. at (210) 486-2333 .

  • 9. Step 4- Registration
    • Registering for classes is easy, thanks to the many different options available to you. You can register:
    • With the Counseling Department (Liberal Arts & Undecided majors only)
    • With the Advisor-In-Residence for your major
    • Over the phone at (210) 301-2520
    • Online at www.alamo.edu - click on “Student Information Access & Online Registration”- then follow directions
  • 10. Student Financial Services
    • Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. The FAFSA, which may be submitted online, is the quickest way to find out what is available to you. It is recommended that you apply as soon as possible to ensure that the funds will be available to pay for tuition. You may apply for the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov , which will take 2-4 weeks to be processed. You can contact the Student Financial Services Office at (210) 486-2600, or visit the website at http://www.alamo.edu/spc/admin/sfa/default.aspx
