Prepared To Be a Sanctuary - Presentation Transcript

    1. Using the song “Sanctuary” to petition the Lord and giving our lives to be His dwelling place. 1 Cor. 6:19 Prepared To Be a Sanctuary
    2. Introduction
      • Think about the Bible’s picture of the temple sanctuary:
        • It was a place for God’s dwelling place. Exo. 25:8
        • A place where sacrifices are offered to Jehovah.
        • It is a most sacred place.
    3. Introduction
      • Now think about our lives being the temple of the Lord as personified through ‘ Sanctuary’ . 1 Cor. 6:19
        • While in the flesh we petition the Lord to turn our bodies into His dwelling place.
        • We then commend and commit our lives as holy, pure, and tested as His dwelling place.
    4. Lord, Prepare me
      • To be a sanctuary.
        • We want the Lord to dwell in us that we may have fellowship with Him.
        • Therefore we humbly ask Him to prepare our lives that He may dwell in us.
    5. Lord, Prepare me
      • To be pure and holy.
        • We want our bodies to be a perfect dwelling place for our Almighty God.
        • Therefore we humbly ask Him to make us pure and holy (for we cannot of ourselves).
          • We want Him to lead us on from temptation.
          • To fill our hearts with His Spirit. 1 Cor. 6:19
          • Take our sins away.
        • Can he live in anything less?
    6. Lord, Prepare me
      • To be tried and true.
        • We want our bodies to be a reliable dwelling place for our Lord.
        • So, we make supplication that the Lord test our faith that we may be found “tried and true” before Him.
    7. With Thanksgiving
      • We are full of thanksgiving because:
        • He came to save us.
        • He knows our weaknesses.
        • He gives us strength with His own hand.
    8. With Thanksgiving
      • Thus, each one of us – with thanksgiving - will be a living sanctuary.
        • With a heart of thanksgiving we’ll be living sacrifices. Rom. 12:1-2
        • Our daily walk will be evidenced as God’s dwelling place.
        • All this is done for our great God.
    9. Conclusion
      • Is your life a sanctuary for the Lord?
      • If not, ask Him to purify your life so He dwells within and has fellowship with you.
