Is the Book of Mormon True? Part 2 - Presentation Transcript

    1.
      • Book of Mormon
“ We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God , the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true . Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost.” (See Moroni 10:3-5 .)

And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the Gods , organized and formed the heavens and the earth. 2 And the earth, after it was formed, was empty and desolate, because they had not formed anything but the earth; and darkness reigned upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of the Gods was brooding upon the face of the waters. 3 And they (the Gods) said: Let there be light; and there was light.
      The Doctrine of God
      • Jesus is God, who was manifest in the flesh. Gen. 1:26; Jn. 1:1-3, 14; Phil. 2:5-8

Teachings About Jesus and Satan … Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God… taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-8
    5. Teachings About Jesus and Satan
      • Mormon’s spin for mainstream Christian listeners : “We believe, as other Christians believe and as Paul wrote, that God is the father of all,” said the spokeswoman, Kim Farah. “That means that all beings were created by God and are his spirit children. Christ, on the other hand, was the only begotten in the flesh and we worship him as the son of God and the savior of mankind. Satan is the exact opposite of who Christ is and what he stands for.”
      • Abraham 3:27-28: 27 And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And another answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first. 28 And the second was angry, and kept not his first estate; and, at that day, many followed after him.
      Teachings About Jesus and Satan
      • Spencer W. Kimball (12th president of LDS church) : “There is another power in this world forceful and vicious. In the wilderness of Judaea, on the temple's pinnacles and on the high mountain, a momentous contest took place between two brothers , Jehovah and Lucifer, sons of Elohim.”

    7. Teachings About Jesus’ Life
      • Ezra Taft Benson : “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints proclaims that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in the most literal sense. The body in which He performed His mission in the flesh was sired by that same Holy Being we worship as God, our Eternal Father. Jesus was not the son of Joseph, nor was He begotten by the Holy Ghost”
