    Attitude - Presentation Transcript

    1.
      • Bible Reveals: Worldliness among the saved.
        • Turning a “spiritual meal” into a common meal. 1 Cor. 11:17-18ff
        • Fighting over their “spiritual gifts”. 1 Cor. 12-14
        • Overall “issues” that divided brethren. 1 Cor. 3:1-3ff
      Introduction
      • Christians are no different today:
        • Jealousy
        • Strife and judgments against one another.
        • Rather than rejoice over the good being done…divisive attitudes destroy the good done.
      Introduction
      • The purpose of this lesson is for us to check our attitude about various things that would otherwise tear down each other’s walk in the Lord.
    2.
      • There are times when God’s people do things with less than pure intent
        • Deeds to be seen by men. Matt. 6:3 (v. 1-4)
        • Comparing self with others. 2 Cor. 10:12
        • Look down upon others. Matt. 7:1-5
        • All this may be seen in others but not in our own life until facing its truth. cp. 2 Sam. 12:7
      • Some may be guilty of using scriptures to mask their destructive attitudes.
        • Scribes and Pharisees were guilty. Jn. 8:1-6
        • Christians today use scriptures out of ungodly motives. Cp. Phil. 1:15
        • Some just don’t realize their guilt in tearing down their brethren. 1 Cor. 8:4-7
      • Purposeful or not, divisive attitudes eventually manifest and show the spirit of the person.
        • You see the fruit of a person reveals the true person (his/her attitude). Matt. 7:15-20
        • A person with a destructive attitude – by his very own words – reveals that which becomes destructive to the lives of others.
    3.
      • Rejoice with those who shine their lights and receive honor. Rom. 12:15-16
      • Think the best about each other as you would want them to think of you. 1 Cor. 13:7
      • Realize your convictions may be different than your brother’s. cp. Rom. 14:19-20
      • Ultimately, love destroys all destructive attitudes.
    4. Conclusion
      • We know what to do but sometimes need reminders.
      • Let this lesson remind us to have godly attitudes toward one another.
