Are You Shortchanging God and Others - Part 2 - Presentation Transcript

    1. Opinions – Can We Give Too Much of Ourselves?
      • Facts before opinions:
        • God did not judge the widow (Lk. 21:1ff) or the impoverished brethren in Macedonia (2 Cor. 8:1-5) for their selflessness (or the potential need that they would be in for others to “bail them out”).
        • God also told the rich: to be rich in good works; generous and ready to share. 1 Tim. 6:17-19; Lk. 18:25
    2. Opinions – Can We Give Too Much of Ourselves?
      • Answering the question: can we give too much of ourselves.
        • Such is answered by individuals limited only by their own faith. 2 Cor. 9:6-11
        • What one person thinks is “too much” another believes they have more to offer. cp. 2 Cor. 8:3-5
        • That is why some are able to give out of their poverty and out of their abundance. Lk. 21:1-4
        • If you are ready to give….it is acceptable (to God) with what you have (not what you don’t have). 2 Cor. 8:12
    3. Conclusion
      • Some may have learned how poor they are at biblically giving and realize they have been shortchanging God and others in need: repent and give glory to God!
      • Whatever our maturity of faith, may we ever strive to become more like our Master who “gave all” to become ‘poor’ so that we could become (eternally) rich in/through Him.
