In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? - Presentation Transcript

    1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
    2. Conventions used
      • One convention I have used is having cover lines at the top and bottom of the page to advertise the acts in the magazine.
These cover lines connote youth as they include artists suitable for my audience to the product They also co-ordinate a constant theme which is held through the production
    3. Conventions used
      • Three column grid- this is important as it is shows professionalism and makes it easy for the reader to follow.
Page numbers as they make it easier to follow a magazine and a website address to show multi- platform consumption. Capitalised letter to start article. Run around used to make the audience want to read on as they see what the next bit of text has in it
    4. Conventions used Barcode Issue number, date and website address on cover- shows a regularity to magazine and multi-platform consumption Cover line- main sell of the inside article Strap line- to give details of type of articles audience will find inside Masthead at top of page- the audience know the magazine genre immediately.
    5. Challenging conventions Face looking away- this is unlike an existing magazine however, I had a non face front picture as it takes away from the sexuality of the shot. If the face was looking forward the connotations would be sexual, which would appeal to a male gender. However the face looking away connotes youth and fun to the female audience. The spotted font- this is unconventional in existing magazines, however the sans serif spotted font connotes youth and works with the house style of spot borders. It connotes…
    6. Challenging Conventions
      • White background for front cover- it is usual for a magazine to have a coloured background but I decided to put the model on a white background to make the graphics on the page stand out. Also because the graphics are neon pink on a metallic house style so they are accented more.
Page numbers slanted- I put the page numbers slanted followed by the strap lines in straight lines to mix sophistication with youth so the magazine appeals to the target audience by connoting they are not children but make it more fun.
