Avoid the one-size-fits-all career site.

Is it prominent and eye catching? • Is navigation to the jobs/career section available from every page of the website? • How many clicks are there between the home page and the search functionality? Goal = 1, but never more than 2-3 • Is the site navigation consistent throughout the site? Can I easily navigate back to the home page?

Does it offer the options that are best for our job seekers? • Does our site include a refer-a-friend function? Most importantly, is it available from every page? • Does our site include a “job alert agent” so our visitors may register for updates to available opportunities? • Do we have social networking tools integrated to make it easy for visitors to share opportunities with others? • Is our site easily bookmarked? • Do we offer resume parsing and extraction? According to Monster.com, visitor to applicant conversion goes up as much as 20% with the inclusion of parsing.
  28. 28. “Career Center 101”  Functionality • Have we incorporated interactive multi-media such as videos or games? • Is it possible for an applicant to return to our site to receive updates via a portal? • Do we have any tracking/metrics tools to help us understand our site visitors and evaluate changes we make to the site? • Is our application process user-friendly and applicant- focused? • Is our application process user-friendly and applicant- focused? That’s worth repeating!
