  • The SOLAR PANEL functions as a variable battery charger (output will change based on sunlight intensity) that operates for a fixed amount of time per 24 hours. The BATTERY stores the energy produced by the solar panel for use when needed IE: at night. Battery capacity allows for several nights of operation during cloudy weather.LIGHTS are chosen based on their intended end use, LEDs offer high efficiency (low energy consumption, high color index and long life) which translates into a smaller solar power package and less relamping.SYSTEM CONTROLLER maintains the battery at optimum charge and allows for Dusk to Dawn operation, timer or motion sensing lighting control.

    5. 5. OPPOSITION TO CLIMATE CHANGEClimate change is happening but it’s only natural variationValid arguments have been looked at and addressed with no change in outlookThe conspiracy theory Its all a ‘Hoax’ Global conspiracy by climate scientists out to enrich themselves UN conspiracy to take over USAWall street Cap and Trade, it’s a bad idea and climate scientist agree!

    11. 11. THE BASICS OF SOLAR LIGHTINGTypes of solar lighting systemsHow do solar lights workWhere are they usedHow is solar financed
    12. 12. TYPES OF SOLAR LIGHTING SYSTEMS GRID CONNECTED STAND ALONE Identical to conventional lighting  No connection to utility grid No storage of solar power  Solar power stored in a battery Solar offsets utility power. Similar to  Battery powers light at night most “net zero” residential installations  Immune to power outages  Solar power generated during day time  Utility power used at night No protection from power outages No utility power here
    13. 13. BASIC COMPONENTSSTAND ALONE SYSTEM SOLAR PANEL, functions as a battery charger BATTERY, stores the solar energy for use at night LIGHTS, high efficiency fixtures from landscape lighting to street lights SYSTEM CONTROLLER, the brains of the system

    15. 15. BENEFITS THE COST OF TRENCHING, RUNNING POWER LINES AND INSTALLING A METER IS ELIMINATED ZERO UTILITY FEES NO NEED TO SET-UP AND ADMINISTER UTILITY ACCOUNTS NO NEED FOR ELECTRICAL PERMITS BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT FOR BETTER NIGHT VISION SAFETY: SAFE, 12 VOLT, LOW VOLTAGE POWER
    16. 16. BENEFITS SECURITY: LIGHTS REMAIN ON DURING A POWER OUTAGE POLLUTION FREE 21st CENTURY LIGHTING TECHNOLOGIES RECOGNITION FOR INNOVATIVE DESIGN ABILITY TO RECOUP COSTS THROUGH MONTHLY “LIGHTING SERVICE” CHARGES
    17. 17. APPLICATIONS Sign/Monument Lighting*  Street lights* Townhouse Parking Lot Lights  Power for Fountain Pumps Landscape Lighting*  Power for Irrigation Control Gazebos* Systems Pathways  Electric car charging stations Security Lights* Mail Box Cluster Lighting* Bus Shelters Gates Flag Poles

    19. 19. SIGN LIGHTING
    20. 20. MAIL BOX CLUSTERSIdeal solution for covered and stand alonecentral mail delivery stations.Bright and targeted lighting provides asafe environment in which to collect mailat night.
    21. 21. TRAIL LIGHTINGThis lighting system is wired in a similarfashion to conventional lighting systems
    22. 22. LANDSCAPE LIGHTINGThis landscape lighting installation includes:•Gazebo and pergola•Multiple Pathways•Tree lightingand•Irrigation control
    23. 23. SECURITY LIGHTINGThis townhome community was the first inFairfax county to install solar poweredsecurity lighting to discourage car break-ins.11 years later, another security light wasinstalled in another part of the community.
    24. 24. ALL IN ONE AREA LIGHTINGIn stand alone area lighting systems, each lightpole includes all the components.
    25. 25. FINANCING
    26. 26. CURRENT INFRASTRUCTUREFINANCING MECHANISMS Infrastructure lighting costs are passed on to buyers The HOA or local government then has the “pleasure” of paying monthly utility bills
    27. 27. CURRENT INFRASTRUCTUREFINANCING MECHANISMS Infrastructure lighting costs are passed on to buyers The HOA or local government then has the “pleasure” of paying monthly utility bills FOREVER Those bills only increase over time.
    28. 28. SOLAR INFRASTRUCTURE FINANCING Lighting without the upfront costs and the infinite, ever-increasing monthly bills. This new financing mechanism offers a fixed number of monthly payments, because the lighting is solar powered. The entity (privet owner, local government or HOA) making those monthly payments will, at the end of the payment period, gain control of the lighting and solar power infrastructure and not only enjoy ZERO monthly lighting bills but could actually receive income from the solar infrastructure. The entire lighting infrastructure cost is rolled into a monthly lighting service “utility” bill.
    29. 29. FINANCING EXAMPLEMonthly payment for lighting service Installed cost of solar power supply $6,488.00 Installed cost of solar power supply $6,488.00 30% federal tax credit $1,946.40 30% federal tax credit $1,946.40 Cost after tax credit (amount financed) $4,541.60 Cost after tax credit (amount financed) $4,541.60 Expected battery life, years 12 Expected battery life, years 12 Battery replacement cost including labor $2,654 Battery replacement cost including labor $2,654 Amount financed $4,542 Amount financed $4,542 Monthly payment $ 81.50 Monthly payment $ 73.27 # of payments 96 # of payments 120 Payment term, years 8 Payment term, years 10Battery life is estimated at 12 years, an 8 year payment term gives the ultimate owner 4 or more years of free “lighting services” before battery replacement is needed.New battery technology will increase battery life to 20+ years.
    30. 30. SOLAR INFRASTRUCTURE FINANCING Solar power and lighting technologies present developers with new infrastructure financing options unavailable until now
    31. 31. RESIDENTIAL GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE CONCEPT
    32. 32. GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE CONCEPT GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE AN EVOLUTION AND A REVOLUTION IN ENERGY DELIVERY T HE RATIONAL FOR GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE TODAY Energy is the cornerstone of modern society and the key to prosperity, it is therefore essential that energy remain reliable and affordable. Reliance on non-renewable energy sources is, well, non sustainable. In the longer term, investing in those non-renewable resources and technologies is detrimental to society and is not a solution to our current energy predicament because it is merely postponing the inevitable switch to renewable and sustainable energy systems at the expense of society’s well being. GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE implementation will shape how energy is produced and consumed in new residential communities, including single family, townhome and multifamily with future expansion into the commercial sector. As a result, several appealing outcomes are realized, including: C ONTINUED GROWTH in overall power consumption as the population grows, without constructing new conventional power plants L OWER LAND DEVELOPMEN T COS TS which are passed on to home buyers,(infrastructure costs are rolled into utility payments) L EVERAGING NEW CONSTR UCTION TECHNIQUES to reduce energy consumption which allows for higher unit energy costs C OMMUNITY OWNERSHIP of energy production keeps energy expenditures in the community and local economy I NCREASED ENERGY SECU RITY , end users are protected from escalating energy costs and weather related power disruptions E NVIRONMENT AND CLIMA TE FRIENDLY C URRENTLY AVAILABLE T ECHNOLOGI ES
