  • 2. WHAT IS OFFICE ROMANCE?
    • romantic relationships between two people employed by the same employer
    • The long hours many people spend at work make for a situation in which they search not only for colleagues but the primary source of social contact.

    • Work-related interaction gives people the rather unsuspecting opportunity to get acquainted with other's ideas, feelings, ambitions, interests, mannerisms, values, preferences, and personal habits—the very things we examine on a more conscious level when try to have more serious relationship with them.
  • 4. HOW DO EMPLOYERS DEEL WITH OFFICE ROMANCE?
    • Clear policies & guide lines
    • Restrict cross level romances
    • Respect the employee’s privacy
    • Encourage open communication
    • Require supervisors and managers to report any inappropriate behavior of employees
  • 5. ADVANTAGES OF OFFICE ROMANCES
    • Time efficiency – no need to spend an odd amount of hour after work searching for partner
    • Identify characteristic of the partner – do not have to take much effort to know what kind of person he/she is
    • Good productivity – workers’ happiness can lead to good productivity
  • 6. DISADVANTAGE OF OFFICE ROMANCE
    • No privacy – no time to be with other friends at work place
    • Jealousy – cannot accept that the partner be close with other colleagues
    • Effects on productivity – problems in relationship can cause transfer, demotion or resignation
  • 7. CONCLUSION……….
    • There are advantages and disadvantages in ‘office romance’
    • Employers and employees should be aware of their responsibilities and serve fairly according to it.
    • Good knowledge in balancing the time between work and romance would avoid the problems at work place.
    • Must know to balance the time with other colleagues
    • Must respect the rules and regulation had been designed by the organization.
