  • 4. 4La Trobe UniversityCitation metrics – Hirsch’s h-index• Means of quantifying impact and productivity of a scientist• Calculated on the number and impact of publications• An h-index of 10 means that a researcher has published10 papers that have at least 10 citations each• The h-index of an author will be different depending onwhich tool is used, as it needs to include the publicationsof the author and the cites of each paper• Egghe’s g-index takes into account a researcher’s highlycited papers
