  1. 1. nd2 Grade News Mrs. Ealy’s Class May 4, 2012 Letter from Mrs. EalyDear Parents, Next Week’s Specials Monday - Wellness ACES Day was on Wednesday this week. ACES stands for AllChildren Exercise Simultaneously. This is a worldwide event with over 50countries participating. At 10:00 the entire school walked around the Tuesday – Artbuilding for 25 minutes and ended on the blacktop to do stretches led by Ms.A. The kids enjoyed every minute of it! Wednesday – Music and Computers Yesterday we had an assembly in the afternoon. It was called theNED show. Mr. Gary did a presentation with his friend NED about Thursday – Music and P.E. (Wear Sneakers)becoming a champion. He also did a lot of yoyo tricks while presenting.Each letter of Ned’s name stands for something. N is for never give up, E is Friday – Library and P.E. (Wear Sneakers)for encourage others, and D is for do your best. The students really enjoyedthe presentation! An order form was sent home today for anyone who isinterested in purchasing a yoyo. What We’re Learning About! Today was Stand 4 Change Day. The group Defeat the Labelasked all people to stand symbolically across the globe in their homes, work Math – This week we finished up Unit 10. We had a review day onplaces, and school to stamp our bullying. As a school we all wore white to Thursday and took our test on Friday. We will start Unit 11 on Monday,take a stand. At noon everyone in the school stood up while Mrs. McDonald which is on Whole Number Operations. This is something we havetalked about standing up for others when being bullied. I was lucky enough previously learned, but will be revisiting to be able to go over to Lakeland High School with some other teachers andour Caring Community group made up of 3rd and 4th graders to see apresentation about bullying and taking a stand. Reading – During reader’s workshop this week we continued to look at The end of the year party will be on Thursday, June 7th. On the important details of the book.
