  • 3. What is RefWorks?
    • A web-based product where you can store bibliographic information. The bibliographic records reside on the web
    • All bibliographies are formatted in a particular style
    • The most common style in college and university is APA (American Psychological Association) & MLA (Modern Language Association)

    • EXPORT through a RefWorks link from one of the online databases

    Three Ways to Insert Citations for your Bibliography into RefWorks
  • 7. When exporting citations from databases to RefWorks remember to change the Internet browser settings to allow pop-ups!
    • Firefox
    • Go to Tools menu
    • Select Options
    • Select Content tab
    • Uncheck “block pop-up windows” option
    • Click “OK”
    • Internet Explorer
    • Go to Tools menu
    • Scroll down to “Pop-up blocker” option
    • Select “Turn off pop-up blocker”
  • 8. Exporting citations from an EBSCO database

  • 10. Exporting citations from a Proquest database 1. Mark the record 2. Export the record to RefWorks

  • 12. Sign In Your group code can be found in the e-mail RefWorks sent when you set up your account GH group code: RWUGuelph Humber group code: RWHumberC
  • 13. Go to the Folders menu to create a new folder to help organize your references Your reference will automatically be sent to the ‘Last Imported Folder’
