    • AS Media Studies Evaluation: Fearless By Jon Sadler and Ed Potts
    • In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
      • The main way our media product uses/supports forms and conventions is by following Vogler’s theory of the heroes journey.
    • In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
      • Our product also challenges some forms and conventions. One big example is that our hero has no extraordinary power, similar to few others such as batman.

      • Or Kickass, as he is a teenager who has an idea similar to our hero, to stand up for himself.
      • http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v =uvfKPo6VZp4
    • How does your media product represent particular social groups?
      • The only social groups to feature and therefore be represented in our media product are teenagers and males. Both are considered stereotypically confrontational and violent as seen during the chase scene in our product.
    • How does your media product represent particular social groups?
      • This is a negative stereotype also seen in many TV dramas. Such as waterloo road and skins.
      • http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v =_ OWtHxOpTNo
    • What kind of media institution might distribute our product?
      • As our product would be a low budget British film it is more likely to be distributed by an institution such as kaleidoscope than to distribute itself like massive institution like universal would do.
      • The best option would be to show it on a few screens and depending on its success determine whether to show it on more or to go to TV or DVD.
    • Who would be the audience for your media product?
      • The groups we would mainly aim our film at would be male teenagers to young adults mostly male. This would be because it is not a comedy so would not be suitable for younger audiences and would contain violence.
    • Who would be the audience for your media product?
      • A similarly serious superhero film The Dark Knight had a 12 rating. We would expect our product to be similar.
    • How did you attract/address your audience?
      • We attracted our audience by using actors of a similar age that they would like and could relate to. We also used a theme “Bullying” that many would be able to relate to.
      • They would enjoy the idea of rising up against a bully as it is what many young teenagers my dream of doing themselves.
    • How did you attract/address your audience?
      • Our audience feedback supported this as the movie appealed to audience members that met the criteria we expected our target audience members to fall in to.
    • What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
      • We learnt about how important it is to use a variety of camera shots and to keep the camera steady. As a slight knock when filming can result in a lot of shaking in the clip.
      • Our skills in production have greatly developed as we learnt about various editing techniques to use when linking shots together.
      • One aspect we could of improved upon is acting in front of the camera. We could have had more variety within our movie.
    • Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
      • One change we made was to make sure we went through a much more detailed planning process. This made sure we knew exactly what to be doing when filming and ensure we used our time efficiently.
      • Since our preliminary task we have began using a tripod and having little or no contact with the camera whilst it is filming as it makes it a lot easier to film steadier shots.
      • Since the prelim we have used editing techniques such as fades in and out to make our transitions from scene to scene smoother.
