  2. 2. Camp Manager Raelene introduces Sharon who talked to the students about the history of the Town Hall and in particular the council chambers where everything is original apart from the microphones…
  3. 3. It didn’t take long for Mr Sherlock to take over the Mayor’s Seat…
  4. 4. Beautiful Ballroom and Stage Area… There is an ancient organ under the covers stage right.
  5. 5. It shows the affluence of the time with all the chairs covered in velvet and under foot is thick carpet.
  6. 6. Students listening to Sharon tell them all about the history of the building.
  7. 7. The Ballroom was cooled using these indentations in the ceiling to allow the hot air to rise and exit the room.
  8. 8. Beautiful jarrah work to the stairs and ballastrades...
  9. 9. York Hotel built in the Federation style in 1900, undergoing some refurbishment
  10. 10. Kalgoorlie Post Office undergoing some refurbishment too.
  11. 11. Raelene and Sharon wait for the lights so we can all cross over. The Famous Exchange Hotel and Kalgoorlie Miner Newspaper across the road.
  12. 12. Beautiful jarrah stairs in the Palace Hotel where 31st US President Herbet Hoover stayed as a mining engineer...
  13. 13. Mine Head now located over the WA Museum in Kalgoorlie. You can take the lift to the yellow level and look out over the town...
  14. 14. Handmade bicycle built by a prospector to get to the Gold Rush ...
  15. 15. Handmade wheelbarrow also built to carry equipment and belongings to the Gold Rush.
  16. 16. Coolgardie Safe is one of the first refridgerators, being water cooled using evaporation, similar to an evaporative airconditioner of today…

  29. 29. KCGM SUPERPIT TOUR The tour is taken in their bus, so all photos taken through the tinted windows. They flattened this 4 Wheel Drive with a Haulpack to show the danger if you are not alert and follow the rules of the pit!!

  36. 36. SUPERPIT BLAST… Back at the Superpit at 4pm for the afternoon blasting. This is viewed from the Tourist Lookout Area. We had a bit of a wait for the wind to die down…
  37. 37. Back to the buses and the camp school to relax and get ready for dinner…
