Unit 22: Single Camera Techniques Assignment 2 Task SheetTask 2:TV Drama AnalysisFor this task you need to show your understanding of formats, narratives, genre andtechnical elements.To do this you will analyse the opening 5 minute sequence of three different openingsequences.Select three TV Dramas, each of a different format (Series, Serial and Single drama)and analyse the opening 5 minutes and discuss how they have been constructed inorder to appeal to and entertain a specific target audience. Your analysis shouldfocus on the following aspects: • Introduction introducing the drama and defining the target audience • Which narrative structures and devices have been used? • What Genre does the drama belong to? Is there more than one? • How is information conveyed and emotional responses created through technical elements (camera, editing, lighting, sound, mise en scene)Remember to always steer your discussions back to the idea of a specific targetaudience and how the expectations of a particular experience are being either met ofchallenged.You must comprehensively explain the different features of single camera productionwith reference to a variety of focused and detailed examples.Remember to use specific terminology correctly at all times.
