What should I look for? If you have a computer at home: Does your child work late on the computer? Are they secretive or defensive about their time spent on the computer? Have they had any mood/personality changes, even minor? Do they hide their work or switch programs when you enter the room? Have their been any changes in their sleep patterns? Have they started to go to bed early?

What can I do? Build an open line of communication and talk to your child, ask questions, ask questions, ask questions! If it’s in there, get the computer our of their room and put it in a common room of the house! Set clear ground rules. Do a Google search for your child’s name and see if it pops up anywhere. Use a parental filter program (but don’t rely completely on them). Check the history of your web-browser.
