  1. 1. How to best protect yourself:-- Always keep in mind that your perceived security is an illusion – be wary-- Use a good protection suite (Kaspersky, etc.), not just Windows firewall-- Run virus scans on a regular basis-- Never allow situations in which others can physically access your computer-- Protect your BIOS with a strong password-- Set a fixed boot order and always start with your hard disk-- Never set up an Administrator account without a password-- Use strong passwords (at least 7 digits, upper-lower cases, symbols, numbers)-- Use different passwords (your email password should not be your banking password)-- Never run an unprotected or WEP protected WLAN – it takes 10 mins to crack-- Always use WPA2 security in your network-- If you suspect an intrusion, check your router traffic logs-- Keep your online footprint small-- Report your victimization
