  • 3. What is a STaR Chart?
    STaR is an acronym that stands for School Technology and Readiness.
    All applications for state funded technology grants require a completed campus or district Texas STaR Chart profile.
    The Texas Teacher STaR Chart is designed to help teachers, campuses, and districts determine their progress toward meeting the goals of the Long-Range Plan for Technology, as well as meeting the goals of their district.
  • 4. The Texas Teacher STaR Chart has been developed around the four key areas of the Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020: Teaching and Learning; Educator Preparation and Development; Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support; and Infrastructure for Technology.
    The STaR Chart is completed annually by campus principals or administrators.
  • 5. The Texas Teacher STaR Chart Will Help Teachers Answer the Following Critical Questions:
    What is my current educational technology profile in the areas of Teaching and Learning and Educator Preparation and Development?
    What is my knowledge of online learning, technology resources, instructional support, and planning on my campus?
    What evidence can be provided to demonstrate my progress in meeting the goals of the Long Range Plan for Technology and No Child Left Behind, Title II, Part D?
    In what areas can I improve my level of technology integration to ensure the best possible teaching and learning for my students?
    What are the technology standards required of all beginning teachers and recommended for all current Texas teachers?

    The data highlights where we need to pool our resources: Infrastructure for Technology
    Our campus is doing a great job overall with technology, but we can use the STaR chart to base future decisions of allocations for resources.
