What drives the system? Local Library Participant Records
The Preferred Lender List is the route the request will take.
Shipping address provided in participant record transfers to individual requests.
Requests will not go to a library if they are closed.
E-mail notices for many different status changes
If a library doesn’t lend a particular format, the system will not send them the request.

Early History of the Project <ul><li>A goal of the New Jersey State Library’s “Libraries 2000” five-year plan. </li></ul><ul><li>58 libraries were funded for Z39.50 and WebPac technology over a four year period. </li></ul><ul><li>A vendor was chosen for building our virtual catalog and interlibrary loan system. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Problems encountered with early ISO compliant system <ul><li>Client/server architecture </li></ul><ul><li>Slow response time </li></ul><ul><li>Not user friendly </li></ul><ul><li>Non-Z39.50 compliant libraries could not be lenders </li></ul>

Migration to Auto-Graphic AGent <ul><li>Needed to include small, non-Z39.50 compliant libraries of New Jersey as lending libraries </li></ul><ul><li>Agent’s hybrid model allowed us to accomplish this: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>A union catalog for small libraries of 100,000 volumes or less </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Z39.50 technology for catalogs that were already Z39.50 compliant. </li></ul></ul>
