      • There were 175,640 unique requests in 2008
          • 6% increase over 2007
      • Customers initiated 30% of the requests
      • Staff initiated 70% of the requests
      • 80% systemwide fill rate was achieved
    3. What can we do better?
      • Make our lending policies as liberal as possible so more requests are filled quickly
      • Check on and reply to your lending requests at least once a day
      • Put JerseyCat on your library’s website so your customers can search and place their own requests to your office.

      • Decide whether the item is mandatory

    10. Electronic Delivery of Digital Files
      • A great way to send photocopies of journal or reference book articles.
      • Upload the article and attach to the request rather than shipping or faxing the article.
      • Saves time and improves delivery speed.

      • Due date will be the number of days defined by the lending library from the date of shipment. For most libraries in New Jersey this is 28 or 30 days.
      • Renewals will be determined in the same way.
      • Deadline Date is now Due Date on the ILL form. Deadline date is GONE!

      • Check for ALL editions of a work and choose the bibliographic record that has the most NJ locations attached to it.
      • When choosing to use a blank request, be certain that there are no locations in New Jersey for the item before sending the request to NJAC
      • Enter a MaxCost into the appropriate field. JerseyCat+ staff ALWAYS goes to free lenders first.

      • Other pilot libraries are in the states of Connecticut, Kansas and Wisconsin.
      • Pilot began on October 5, 2009
      • Pilot will end on April 1, 2010
      • Libraries that are participating are lending free, renewing materials one time if needed.
