why do we blog? CCTP 742 Fall 2008

every week, professors assign readings

some professors ask us what we thought of the readings we rarely answer.

to make sure we reflect on the readings before class, professors often assign short essays

sometimes i have lots to write. i get excited about sharing my ideas.

sadly, this rarely happens

blogs can solve this (and other) problems

blogs are not limited to writing

Instead, blogs are part of a network

this network lets me share my ideas and build on the ideas of others

cass sunstein suggests that blogs might provide better flows of information

eric beinhocker thinks that blogs might help our ideas evolve

yochai benkler says that blogs can help us participate in the public sphere
