  2. 2. Incentives: Green Taxes <ul><li>Green taxes are an effective way to raise awareness and change behaviors </li></ul>We use less of what is taxed and more of what is not
  3. 3. Plastic Bag Tax <ul><li>Plastic bag taxes have been implemented in many areas and the results are impressive </li></ul><ul><li>In 2002 Ireland induced a .33 cent per bag tax which led to a 95% reduction in use and raised millions of euros in revenue! </li></ul>
  4. 4. Plastic is a Problem! <ul><li>100 Billion plastic bags end up in landfills every year </li></ul><ul><li>Plastic breaks down into tiny toxic pieces= Contaminates soil and water </li></ul><ul><li>The average American throws out 5lbs of plastic bags every year </li></ul>
