Obama Energy Plan Test Obama Energy Plan Test Presentation Transcript

    • Obama Energy Plan Susan Muller
    • Part 1
      • Researching the Obama Energy Plan
    • Campaign and Action
    • Long/Short Term Relief
      • Tax reliefs are provided directly to families by oil companies
      • Heavy crude oil replaces light oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve
      • American consumers and businesses will be given incentives to develop economic and environmentally friendly policies to help promote sustainability
    • New Means of Transportation
      • By 2012, hopefully half the cars purchased will be either hybrids or electric cars
      • In 2010, fuel suppliers must begin to reduce their fuel carbon by 5% every five years
      • By 2030, over 600 billion gallons of advanced biofuels will be compatible with new “biofuel new cars”
    • New Jobs
      • Jobs helping with the development of hybrid cars, commercial scale renewable energy, new digital electricity grids, low emission coal plants, and biofuels and fuel infrastructure
      • Creates new jobs with increasing “green training” and increase in pay for companies who involve training programs
      • These ensure that veterans are able to enter the new energy economy
    • Save Non-Imported Oil
      • Set up a method that recognizes obstacles for drilling—promote domestic production of oil and natural gas
      • The Pipeline creates thousands of new jobs —capacity of 7% of the US consumption of natural gas
      • Pass a cap-and-trade bill to give incentives to utilize existing oil fields
    • Expand Energy Sources
      • Develop carbon capture and storage equipment that will maintain clean coal
      • Over 70% of our non-carbon generated electricity is produced “nuclearly”—Yucca Mountain should not be used for dumping
      • By 2012, 10% of total electricity should be provided by clean, renewable sources
    • Reduce Energy Use
      • Sets federal standards to make more resources meet a set efficiency standard
      • Building sustainable communities will provide fuel directly related to the land use and will provide more transportation alternatives and active civil engineering
      • Incentives will entice energy consumers to use less
    • Concerns
    • California Emissions
      • Leader in the environmental movement—always proved to be the most aggressive
      • EPA must have an intense final say on all regulations put through
      • Citizens might have to increase their pay for oil—selling of that oil might be encouraged , which supports the production of CO 2 emissions
    • Appliance Efficiency
      • Any regulation changes regarding efficiency laws must be done to improve the current state of the environment
      • Potential laws can have high predictions, lead to more job chances, and contribute to less reliance on foreign oil
    • New Jobs
      • By refurbishing the economic situation, more jobs will be created
      • If fiscal documents and laws don’t change the economy, serious problems are faced with the current energy plan and will have to create a new/clean resource as a focus
    • Part 2
      • Proposition of Policy Approaches
    • Appliance Efficiency
      • If a final law is created but does not cover all of the regulations already in place, then the new law can’t be enforced
      • The Department of Energy has to consult with past Energy Policy Acts and Energy Independence and Security Acts in order to meet standards while finding the best energy savings
    • Appliance Efficiency
      • (repeated from before)
      • Any regulation changes regarding efficiency laws must be done to improve the current state of the environment
      • Potential laws can have high predictions, lead to more job chances, and contribute to less reliance on foreign oil
    • Appliance Efficiency Policy
      • I propose to create and pass a federal law that will regulate the efficiency in appliances that are manufactured after a certain date in the near future
      • Any manufacturer that does not comply with the law after the said date will be fined and given a warning .
      • The second time it disobeys the law, it will be put under parole
      • Third time, it is put out of business
    • California Emissions
      • If the Environmental Protection Agency disproves of ideas that the states can regulate their own transportation emissions, it will be questioned
      • The EPA should consider that states may be able to provide reverse effects to global climate change and that they will benefit by reversing clean energy issues
    • California Emissions
      • Leader in the environmental movement—always proved to be the most aggressive
      • EPA must have an intense final say on all regulations put through
      • Citizens might have to increase their pay for oil—selling of that oil might be encouraged , which supports the production of CO 2 emissions
      (repeated from before)
    • California Emissions Policy
      • The State of California should create and pass (stricter) emission laws on vehicles that would be approved by the Environmental Protection Agency
      • Any vehicle brought into the state must comply with the emission standard
      • Any vehicle found not complying with the standard, the manufacturer of that vehicle will be fined and temporarily banned from selling their vehicles in California until they meet the emission standards
