Get information to your HOS ADMIN Assistant so you can be added to the Librarian/Tech listserv. Carol can then get this to you!

The use of webinars in PD or resource collecting is secure, cost-effective and a good use of individual time. Search for such web-based opportunities or ask through the Librarian or Tech Talk list serv.

Positive results from using Google Lit trips...students created lit trips around literature in the Library for younger students. ***Jean from Houston*** Could you post the links or names to the lit trips your students created so we can view examples?

Virtual Museums -- use of powerpoint (2007) to create “museums” on any topic (http://christykeeler.com/EducationalVirtualMuseums.html)
Really neat use of powerpoint for students that is not 'powerpointlessness.'

“You may dazzle the mind with a thousand brilliant discoveries of natural science; you may open new worlds of knowledge which were never dreamed of before; yet, if you have not developed in the soul of the pupil strong habits of virtue which will sustain her in the struggle of life, you have not educated her, but only put in her hand a powerful instrument of self-destruction.”

      Resources
To educate to live effectively in an ever-changing world
    • Information Literate School Communities
Technology…it’s tools and resources are just that…tools and resources.
Schools and their leadership define and implement a “plan” to empower teachers that translates to students
Develop relationships from School to Network to ….
Expect to “educate” and expect from everyone!
To educate to live effectively in an ever-changing world
    • Information Literate School Communities
Organize, develop, support, and provide rich occasions for strong professional development that “arms” teachers, teacher-librarians, and administration with necessary processes to transform benefits across “systems.”
Embrace “new” roles; step into the “void” created by rapidity.
Adopt a “changing” mantra in terms of skills, behaviors, and attitudes
To educate to live effectively in an ever-changing world
    • Written by Janet Erskine Stuart about Mother Georgia Stevens, RSCJ and several other Religious of the Sacred Heart.
" ... Among human beings, strong personalities are most entirely and permanently themselves; and without fear of losing themselves can challenge the currents of circumstances to play upon them, adapt themselves to new conditions. Change has not passed upon what was deepest in their souls, but the discipline of change has called out its deepest response. They have changed but that change was growth. They are unchanged; and that unchangeableness is their truth."
