What we will be covering today<br />Looking at job search websites<br />Setting up a hotmail account for job seeking<br />Ensuring you have your LATEST resume and cover letter in your inbox<br />Copying these documents to your laptop<br />Attaching these documents from your desktop to your internet job application<br />
  3. 3. Job Searching<br />Go to seek and find a job<br />You can change ‘sort by’ to sort by Date. That way the latest jobs will be on top<br />
  4. 4. You can sent up an ‘email alert’ for yourself. So any new jobs are sent to your email account<br />
  5. 5. Practice setting up an email alert for 2 job seeking websites (you can use as many different key words as you like)<br />

  7. 7. How to print from a web page<br />Drag your mouse down and select the text you want to print<br />Press CTRL P (shortcut for print)<br />
  8. 8. Choose print ‘selection’ and it will only print the area you have selected (in blue)<br />
  9. 9. Practice printing a small section of a web page <br />
  10. 10. Use our job seeker website at home<br />In google Type <br />www.cim.<br />jobhuntersonline.<br />com<br />
  11. 11. Press enter to bring it up<br />Add to your Favourites so you don’t have to type it in each time. <br />
  12. 12. Why have a job seeking email account<br />You won’t be reliant on your USB key to download your resume<br />You can do job seeking from ANY computer with internet access and attach your resume – without your USB<br />You can receive replies to job applications on your email account<br />

  14. 14. Go to inbox in & find email with resume & Cover Letter<br />Resume & Cover letter<br />Double click to open<br />

  16. 16. Repeat this step. Close documents & you should see your resume and cover letter on your computer desktop<br />Your resume should now be on your desktop ready to be added to job application<br />
  17. 17. Practice doing this till you are confident that you can put your resume & cover letter on your desktop <br />

Recording the Jobs you have applied for<br />Write details in your Catalyst Log book<br />Print out job description so you can refer to it later (write date you applied on the bottom)<br />Destroy after a few weeks so you don’t get bogged down with paperwork<br />Optional – follow up with a phone call. Ask <br />Do you get my application<br />Have I been short listed<br />If not, any suggestions<br />Any other jobs going<br />
  23. 23. I want to change my cover letter or have 2 versions<br />Open your cover letter on your desktop. Change wording and ‘save as’.<br />Save with new name on desktop OR USB.<br />Saved on desktop with new name<br />
  24. 24. Practice saving a new version of your cover letter on the desktop OR your USB<br />
