  2. 2. SALAMANCA ● ● University of Salamanca. ●Considered the oldest existing hispanic university. ●Founded by the King Alfonso X. Style: Plateresque. Literature: “La Celestina” (1499) and “The life of Lazarillo de Tormes”. (1554).
  3. 3. SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA Cathedral of Santiago ● Style: Gothic. ● Destroyed by the Muslims in the late 10th century, it was completely rebuilt in the following century ● Lots of pilgrims go there to see the tomb of the apostle Saint James the Greater, Santiago.
  4. 4. BARCELONA ● It was built by Antoni Gaudí ● Its Architectural style is Modernism.
  5. 5. CÓRDOBA The Mosque-Cathedral ● It´s one of the most amazing monuments in the world. ● Its Architectural style is from Umayad origin. ● It was started to built during the reign of Abderraman I.
  6. 6. Spain Square in Seville SEVILLA Renaissance Revival Style. Painted ceramic benches representing all the provinces of Spain are arranged round the square. is located in Maria Luisa Park. It was built in 1928 for the IberoAmerican Exhibition of 1929.
  7. 7. MÉRIDA ROMAN THEATRE ● Built between 16 and 15 B.C in the times of Marco Vipsanio Agripa. ● In the ancient times: performances and other arts. ● Today: since 1933 home to the Festival of Classical Theatre in Mérida.
  8. 8. CÁCERES ● It was used as the residence of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabel and Fernando, on their visits to this city. ● Built during the 16th century. ● Historic period: Renaissance.
  9. 9. GRANADA GRANADA Court of the Lions in the Alhambra The Alhambra ● One of Spain’s major tourist attractions. ● Red Female ● Built as a small fortress in the 9th century, also the emir’s palace. ● Inspiring for many artists and writers.
