BPM, Collaboration and Social NetworkingI’m not sure that I’d call it anti-BPM: it’s really about getting all those currently uncontrolled processes under at least a bit of governance. Consider how much is currently being done in email and other methods that are not captured in the record of the process; collaboration within BPM allows these ad hoc processes to still emerge, but at least tracks what they are and who is involved. That level of monitoring is valuable to understanding the true business process.2 weeks ago

Business Process DiscoveryBusiness process discovery is definitely suitable for all types of businesses -- its a generic business improvement activity, not something that specific to a certain industry or even requiring the use of specific tools. Process discovery is often the first stage in a process improvement initiative, where you are attempting to find out what an organization currently does, in order to find ways to improve it. I suggest that you listen to the webinar that these slides were created for, I link to it in the description.8 months ago

The Future Of BPMThanks for your comment. I’ve been talking about the crossover between BPM and social computing for a couple of years now, and although there are some small advances being made in the vendors’ products, there needs to be a lot more.2 years ago

Business Process DiscoveryProcess discovery and process mining are really the same thing, although discovery is often the term used for manual determination of the existing process, whereas mining using means some automated method.2 years ago
