Students at Riverview Elementary in Farmington Minnesota teamed up in a reading challenge that ended with the top readers participating in a vote for their favorite book and some even taking part in a “game show” style challenge.

Competitions were held in both fourth and fifth grade as three teams of four readers in each grade tested their knowledge in front of a live and enthusiastic student audience.

  • Minnesota Youth Reading Awards/Reading Olympics Riverview Elementary School
  • Let the game begin! A live audience added to the excitement for the teams. Media Specialist Brook Berg served as emcee for the event.
  • Meet the Teams: The Read A lot Cops
  • Meet the Teams: The Olympians
  • Meet the Teams: The Lightning Readers
  • Teams buzzed in to answer questions on the 12 books they read. The first team to 10 points would win first prize.
  • This one would go down to the wire to determine the winner. The students knew their material!
  • Fans showed their support for their teams.

  • The Lightning Readers took home to top prize and the first-place dogtag medals.
