  • FIRST DAY
    2011-2012 School Year in Farmington Area Public Schools - September 6, 2011
  • Riverview Principal Kim Grengs welcomed students on the first day of school.
  • Parents had their cameras out in full force for the event!
  • Superintendent Jay Haugen greeted students. He was able to visit four schools for the morning sessions and will be spending time in each building, visiting classrooms in the weeks ahead.
  • District facilities were clean and ready for students.
  • New technology will greet students, now nearly all Farmington classrooms will feature interactive systems to improve student learning.
  • At Akin Road Elementary, Principal Laura Pierce and Assistant Superintendent Christine Weymouth provided a warm welcome for students!
  • The youngest students at Akin Road Elementary will benefit from a new playground area created at the south end of the building.
  • The new Akin Road Elementary traffic and pedestrian safety project appeared to be operating as anticipated.
  • At Dodge Middle School a new, secure entrance area for school visitors was put to the test on the first day and worked as promised.
  • In addition to improved safety, the Dodge Middle School office now provides a more welcoming area for parents and visitors to the school.
