  • 3. What is the STaR Chart?<br />It’s a tool designed for use in technology planning, budgeting for resources, and evaluation of progress in local technology projects.<br />It is mandated by law that the chart is completed in order to receive state funding for technology.<br />
  • 4. Texas STaR Chart cont.<br />The STaR chart is broken up into four key areas:<br />Teaching and Learning<br /> Educator Preparation and Development,<br /> Leadership, Administration, Instructional Support<br /> Infrastructure for Technology<br />
  • 5. The Types of STaR Charts<br />Texas Teacher Chart<br />Texas Campus Chart<br />Texas Public Chart<br />
  • 6. Texas Teacher STaR Chart <br />Completed by teachers individually to correlate with the Campus STaR Chart and draws measures from a variety of national and state technology guidelines<br />Measures how well teachers are equipped to educate students with the knowledge and skills needed in today’s technology driven society<br />
  • 7. Texas Campus STaR Chart<br />Provides a profile of a campus’ status toward reaching the goal of the Long Range Plan for Technology (LRPT) and No Child Left Behind (NCLB).<br />Each campus is given the following types of ratings in each key area <br />Early Tech- instruction is teacher-centered<br />Developing Tech-teacher-directed, regular use of tech <br />Advanced Tech-teacher-facilitated<br />Target Tech-highest level <br />

Texas Campus STaR Chart cont.<br />The STaR chart will help answer the following questions: <br />What are your campus’ and district’s current educational technology profiles?<br />What evidence can be provided to demonstrate their progress is meeting the goals of the Long Range Technology Plan? <br />What areas should your campus and district focus on to improve the level of technology integration to ensure the best possible teaching and learning for all students?<br />
  • 9. Texas Public STaR Chart<br />Allows all stakeholders to view the technology readiness of all Texas schools online<br />Reports may be organized by district, ESC region, legislative district or campus type<br />The public site is available at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/startchart/search<br />
